Anyone familiar with the current Peterborough music scene will know The Ruined with their own special style of Horror Punk. With scores of gigs under their belt since their formation in mid 2004, The Ruined have made their mark with regular appearances at The Park and The Met Lounge in Peterborough, and a large number of gigs further afield. Very successful summer tours over the last two years and an equally successful tour early this year, saw them playing dates well away from their normal home territory at venues including London, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Swansea, Bristol, Leicester, Canterbury, Plymouth, Spalding, Norwich, Banbury, Wantage, Workington, Bromsgrove and Doncaster, just to mention a few. The band are now playing an increasing number of gigs around the country.

The Ruined recently headlined a sell out show at the Corn Exchange at Stamford which they took by storm with a rapturous reception from their fans. They had also played to a large and enthusiastic crowd at the Stamford Riverside Festival in the summer.

Describing themselves as ‘the undead punk rockers from hell’, these five horsemen of the apocalypse are Evil Shaun (Nekro) on vocals and keyboards, Dammit on guitars and backing vocals, The Cream on guitars and backing vocals, Barbaric on bass, and AC on drums.

The Ruined have recently come out of the studio having recorded their debut album ‘Hear Lies The Ruined’, which was released at the end of October 2006. The band’s first promo video ‘Death Will Be A Lady’ was also released at the same time as the album.

The Ruined had also recorded a split EP with the reformed punk legends, Destructors 666, earlier in the year, and had already released the EP ‘Generation Braindead’ late in 2004 and the single ‘Creatures of the Night’ in the summer of 2005

The band’s influences are said to include; Misfits, Offspring, Pennywise, Ramones, Send More Paramedics, Tiger Army and Nekromantix.

We had caught up with guys in the band early in the year and interviewed them. Hear what they had to say for themselves!
